CHRONIC WOUND HEALING

HO/06/06 - Animal wound healing

Indications: Treatment of Chronic Veterinary/Equine Wounds

HO/06/06 is a veterinary topical therapeutic currently undergoing field trials for the treatment of chronic equine wounds.

Disease Facts

Formation of excessive granulation tissue, known as proud flesh, is one of the most serious complications associated with chronic wounds in horses, and mainly occurs on the distal parts of the limbs. Limb wounds in horses are characterized by weak initial inflammatory response and restricted wound contraction. Both factors give rise to chronic inflammation, which further inhibits wound contraction and promotes the outgrowth of granulation tissue. While the etiology of proud flesh is not known, the pathology involves increased fibroblast proliferation and excessive angiogenesis associated with extensive inflammation.

Mode of Action

HO/06/06's mode of action is to accelerate formation of a new epidermis, reduce inflammation, and regulate dermal healing and remodeling.
